Steve Blackwood Sessions is an invaluable handbook for the actor on technique and administration. Celebrated actor Steve Blackwood (Days of Our Lives, Machine Gun Preacher, Ed Gein) combines what he learned from studying with master acting teachers Uta Hagen and Milton Katselas with 30 years of acting experience into a practical guide for both beginning and working actors. A must have!
The Steve Blackwood Sessions is unique in that it is both a “How to Act” and “How to Succeed” acting book written by a noted soap star, yet is understandable to and enjoyed by any person. It inspires the reader to take chances and not settle for “middle class” decisions/family advice etc if it’s not who they are. In my acting classes, we ask that students “personalize the role.” In this book we ask everyone to personalize their life and not go with the herd.
WHAT PEOPLE SAY
Actor, The Society
Steve Blackwood was the first acting coach that I ever worked with. Steve’s class was a fun and stress free environment for learning. Steve was always willing to work on personalized material, and give helpful/positive feedback. With his professional background in film/television, Steve knew how to shape us for the industry. Steve and his students are and will continue to be a family to me!
Steve Blackwood and I worked together for many years on Days of Our Lives. I always appreciated his enormous talent. The man was born to be a teacher simply because he has so much to share. Be lucky — I was.
“Steve’s teaching shows the actor how to make every moment personal.”
